PREPARING FOR THE POSITION – STEP‑BY‑STEP GUIDE

1. READ THE ADVERTISEMENT THOROUGHLY
• Note the essential qualifications: BSc in Fisheries, minimum 2 years of experience in fisheries activities, experience in NGOs, and a preference for micro‑finance background.
• Age limit: must be 45 years or younger on the date of the advertisement.
• Additional must‑haves: valid motorcycle driving licence, proficiency in MS‑Office, ability to travel for field visits.

2. SELF‑ASSESSMENT
• Write down your educational credentials. Verify that your degree is from a recognised public university and that you have the official transcript.
• List all work experience in the past five years. Separate duties that relate to:
– NGO project implementation, especially any work with Palli Karma‑Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) or similar donor agencies.
– Fisheries production, training, research, monitoring & evaluation.
– Micro‑finance activities, loan appraisal, client counselling, or financial literacy training.
• Check your age and driving licence status. If you only have a learner’s licence, arrange to upgrade before the application deadline.

3. DOCUMENT PREPARATION

a) CURRICULUM VITAE
– Use a clean, chronological format. Begin with personal details (name, address, phone, e‑mail, date of birth).
– Education: list your BSc Fisheries, include university, year of graduation, any honours or relevant coursework.
– Professional Experience: for each position, state employer, dates, location, and bullet points that match the job duties: training on safe fish production, preparing modules, organising exhibitions, conducting pilots/trials, field‑level technical support, establishing service centres, preparing business plans, market‑system development, monitoring & reporting.
– Emphasise any work with micro‑finance programmes: loan disbursement, client follow‑up, financial reporting, capacity‑building for borrowers.
– Skills: MS‑Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data analysis, GIS (if any), motorcycle operation, interpersonal communication, report writing.
– Certifications: driving licence number, any fisheries or micro‑finance training certificates.

b) COVER LETTER (1‑page)
– Address the letter to the hiring committee of Satkhira Unnayan Sangstha.
– Open with a concise statement of interest, mentioning the specific “Agriculture Unit – PKSF project in Tala Upazila”.
– Highlight how your two‑plus years in fisheries and NGO work directly align with the listed responsibilities.
– Mention any successful training programmes or pilots you designed, and the impact (e.g., number of farmers trained, increase in fish yield).
– Explain your micro‑finance exposure and how it equips you to handle budgeting, activity reporting, and entrepreneur support.
– Confirm you meet the age requirement, hold a valid motorcycle licence, and are proficient in MS‑Office.
– Close with a statement of readiness for field work and a request for an interview.

c) SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
– Copies of academic transcripts and degree certificate.
– Photocopy of valid driving licence (front and back).
– Any certificates from fisheries trainings, NGOs, or micro‑finance courses.
– Reference letters (preferably from previous NGO supervisors) that attest to your performance in training, project management, and field monitoring.

4. RESEARCH THE ORGANISATION AND PROJECT CONTEXT
• Study Satkhira Unnayan Sangstha’s mission, recent annual reports, and the scope of its activities in the six districts mentioned.
• Review PKSF’s Agriculture Unit guidelines, funding mechanisms, and reporting templates.
• Familiarise yourself with the socio‑economic profile of Tala Upazila: major crops, fish species cultivated, existing market chains, and common challenges faced by small‑scale farmers.

5. PREPARE FOR THE INTERVIEW

a) KNOW YOUR STORIES
– Prepare concrete examples for each core duty:
* Designing a training module on safe fish production – what was the content, how many participants, feedback received.
* Setting up an exhibition of modern farming technology – logistics, partners, outcomes.
* Conducting a pilot trial – hypothesis, methodology, results, how it influenced farmer adoption.
* Providing technical assistance in the field – specific problems solved, innovations introduced.
* Linking farmers to input suppliers or buyers – describe the process and any measurable increase in sales.
* Drafting business plans for entrepreneurs – key components, financial modelling, success stories.
– For micro‑finance, be ready to discuss loan cycle management, monitoring of repayment, and capacity‑building activities.

b) TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
– Review safe aquaculture practices, common disease prevention methods, water‑quality management, and appropriate use of farm inputs.
– Refresh your understanding of value‑added fish product processing and marketing channels.

c) SOFT SKILLS DEMONSTRATION
– Highlight your communication style for adult learning, ability to work with diverse community members, and negotiation skills for establishing service centres.
– Emphasise your planning ability: developing work plans aligned with PKSF budgets, monitoring milestones, and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

d) PRACTICAL TESTS
– Anticipate a possible practical assessment on MS‑Excel (budget tracking) or a short presentation of a training module. Practice creating clear charts, tables, and PowerPoint slides.

6. LOGISTICAL PREPARATION

• Ensure your motorcycle is road‑worthy; keep registration and insurance documents handy.
• Print several copies of your CV, cover letter, and supporting documents on good quality paper.
• Dress in professional, modest attire suitable for both office and field contexts.
• Plan your travel route to the interview venue, allowing extra time for traffic.

7. POST‑INTERVIEW FOLLOW‑UP

– Send a thank‑you email within 24 hours, reiterating your enthusiasm for the role and summarising one or two key points you discussed.
– Attach a digital copy of your CV for the record.

8. CONTINGENCY PLAN

– If you do not possess the exact two‑year micro‑finance experience, be ready to articulate transferable skills from fisheries project budgeting, donor reporting, and community finance initiatives.
– Should an interview request a field demonstration, prepare a short “micro‑lesson” on safe fish production, complete with handouts or visual aids.

By systematically addressing each requirement, tailoring your application documents, and rehearsing the competencies the role demands, you will present yourself as a strong candidate for the Agriculture Unit position with Satkhira Unnayan Sangstha. Good luck!
