#9214
PRE‑APPLICATION PREPARATION

1. RESEARCH THE ORGANIZATIONS
• Study SEEP’s mission, recent projects, and especially its work on climate‑resilient livelihoods in Bangladesh.
• Review My Village (MVi) activities in Stung Treng, Cambodia – their community‑based conservation programmes, green micro‑business models and past exchange initiatives.
• Familiarise yourself with Norec’s guidelines, ethical principles and reporting requirements, as they will shape the project’s governance.

2. MATCH YOUR PROFILE TO THE REQUIREMENTS
• List your academic qualifications, noting any modules on environmental science, sustainable development or climate adaptation.
• Prepare a concise inventory of professional experience (2–3 years) that demonstrates work with NGOs, community mobilisation, or green enterprise development.
• Highlight any previous work with indigenous or rural communities, especially in South‑East Asia.

3. UPDATE YOUR APPLICATION DOCUMENTS
• CV – use a clear chronological format, emphasising relevant achievements (e.g., design of a green‑tech pilot, facilitation of climate‑resilience workshops, monitoring and reporting outcomes).
• Cover Letter – address the Director, HR & Admin, and structure it as follows:
– Introductory paragraph stating the position you are applying for and where you learned about it.
– Two to three paragraphs linking your experience to the major responsibilities (learning & exchange, implementation support, knowledge documentation, compliance).
– Closing paragraph expressing commitment to SEEP’s child‑safeguarding and PSEA policies and your readiness for a 12‑month placement.
• NID copy – ensure the scan is legible and the file size complies with email limits.
• References – contact two professional referees (preferably supervisors) to confirm they are willing to provide a reference promptly.

4. VERIFY LOGISTICS
• Passport – check that it is valid for at least five more years; renew now if it expires sooner.
• Health – schedule a medical check‑up, obtain required vaccinations for travel to Cambodia, and obtain a copy of your medical insurance policy.
• Visa – research the Cambodian e‑visa or embassy application process; keep a folder with passport, photographs, invitation letter (once you receive it), and fee receipt.

5. PRE‑DEPARTURE TRAINING PREPARATION
• Register for all Norec pre‑departure webinars and download any preparatory reading material.
• Prepare a list of questions on the training curriculum, especially on green micro‑business models and climate‑resilience practices you wish to explore deeper.

6. CULTURAL READINESS
• Learn basic Khmer greetings and common phrases related to community work.
• Read about the cultural norms of the indigenous groups in Stung Treng (e.g., Khmu, Lao, and others) – respect for elders, decision‑making processes, and gender roles.
• Review SEEP’s gender‑equality and child‑safeguarding policies; be ready to discuss how you will apply them on the ground.

7. TECHNICAL TOOLKIT
• Refresh your skills in MS Office – especially Excel for data collection templates and PowerPoint for presenting training modules.
• Practice using digital communication tools (Zoom, Teams, Google Drive) as you will need to coordinate between SEEP, MVi and Norec.
• Familiarise yourself with simple graphic‑design tools (Canva, PowerPoint) for creating manuals, guidelines and case‑study visuals.

8. MOCK INTERVIEW PREPARATION
• Anticipate questions on:
– Your experience with community‑based environmental projects.
– How you would handle language barriers or cultural misunderstandings.
– Strategies for monitoring and documenting impact in remote settings.
– Your understanding of anti‑corruption, gender equality and PSEA standards.
• Prepare concrete examples (STAR format: Situation, Task, Action, Result) to illustrate your competencies.

9. FINANCIAL PLANNING
• Estimate monthly living costs in Stung Treng (housing allowance will be provided, but budget for food, transport and personal expenses).
• Set up a bank account that can receive international salary payments without excessive fees.

10. FINAL CHECKS BEFORE SUBMISSION
• Proofread CV and cover letter for spelling, grammar and consistency.
• Verify that all attachments are in PDF format and named clearly (e.g., “Name_CV.pdf”, “Name_CoverLetter.pdf”).
• Draft a concise email body that states the purpose of the email, lists attached documents, and includes your contact number.
• Send the application well before the 5 December 2025 deadline to avoid last‑minute technical issues.

POST‑APPLICATION STEPS

1. CONFIRM RECEIPT – Request a read‑receipt or follow up after 48 hours to ensure your email reached the HR address.

2. PREPARE FOR BACKGROUND CHECK – Gather any additional documents that may be requested (educational certificates, work experience letters, police clearance).

3. CONTINUE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – While waiting for a response, enrol in short online courses on climate‑smart agriculture or green entrepreneurship to strengthen your profile.

4. NETWORK – Join SEEP and Norec social media groups, and connect with former exchange participants on LinkedIn to gain insights into the placement experience.

5. PLAN YOUR RETURN – Think ahead about how you will share the knowledge gained with SEEP colleagues in Bangladesh (workshops, training materials, policy briefs).

By following this step‑by‑step preparation guide you will present a strong, targeted application, demonstrate readiness for the international exchange, and position yourself to make a meaningful contribution to the Mutual Learning for Nature and People programme. Good luck!
