100 birth year celebration ‘Mujib Borsho’ of Father of Nation of Bangladesh, Bangobandhu Sheik Mujibur Rahman to be celebrated with due respect from this year through yearlong various programs nationally and internationally. The countdown of ‘Mujib Barsho’ begins on January 10, creating another milestone in the history of Bangladesh.

Bangabandhu is not only a name, he is a history also. He is not only the Father of Nation but also the crownless emperor in the minds of people. As long as this country exists, he will exist immortally. Bangabandhu dedicated his whole life for the welfare of the people. Bangabandhu is the symbol of freedom and struggle for the entire world. That’s why Cuba’s revolutionary lead Fidel Castro once compared Bangabandhu to the Himalayas.

BUJIB BORSHO
The birth century of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be celebrated as ‘Mujib Borsho’ from March 17, 2020 to March 26, 2021. On the occasion of ‘Mujib Borsho about 300 programs have been adopted at home and abroad.
Bangabandhu’s Birth Centenary and National Implementation Committee have been formed. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is leading the Celebration National Committee.
About 16 departments including the Cabinet Division, the Ministry of Public Administration, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Public Administration, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Information are providing secretariat support to the committee.

LOGO OF MUJIB VORSHO
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has unveiled the logo of Mujib Borsho on January, 10, 2020. It is designed by Sabyasachi Hazra. Ten guidelines have been issued to ensure the proper use of the ‘Mujib Centenary Logo’ on the occasion. It includes using same size, colour and shape of the logo everywhere both home and abroad, branding of the logo and use of the logo at appropriate places or venues.
The birth centenary celebrations, will formally start on Bangabandhu’s birthday, March 17, this year and will continue till March 26, 2021, marking the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence.

MUJIB BORSHO COUNTDOEN
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the nation wide countdown for the birth ceremony celebration at the capital’s National Parade Square on January 10, 2020 where Bangabandhu landed the newly-liberated Bangladesh on January 10,1972.
Devices are being set up at different public places in the capital, divisional cities, districts, city corporations and upazilas across the country for the countdown for the birth centenary celebration.
Many Ministries, divisions, departments, socio-cultural organizations and public and private universities are also installing devices at their own initiatives.

GLOBAL GUESTS
Bangladesh will receive a long list of global leaders to become part of a series of programs during the ‘Mujib Borsho’ creating another milestone in Bangladesh history. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Yousef Al-Othaimeen, former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Indian National Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, former UN secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and former UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova are among the global leaders.

YEAR-LONG PROGRAMS
A remarkable number of programs have been adopted at home and abroad. The main eventl will be held on March 17 at Suhrawardy Udyan, with government and heads of different states, contemporary political and social figures of Bangabandhu.
On this day, the program will start simultaneously in Tungipara of Gopalganj and Dhaka. The National Children’s Day will be observed in Tungipara in the morning. Later in the afternoon the main event will be held at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital. Rally will be organized across the country on this day.
A special session will be convened in the parliament on March 18, so that invited guests from different countries will be present. Various events will be held on March 25, the Massacre Day and March 26, Independence Day. On April 17, Mujibnagar Government Day will be celebrated at Meherpur. The Six-point Day will be celebrated across the country on June 7. There will be a variety of events throughout the month of August 15, the National Mourning Day.
Bangabandhu delivered his first speech in Bangla at the UN General Assembly on September 25,1974. Therefore, the importance and significance of delivering the speech will be discussed. This time, Victory Day will be celebrated in a much brighter fashion than other times.
As part of the celebration of Mujib Year, initiatives have been taken to set up five Bangabandhu chairs abroad, including the University of London and Visva-Bharati University.
Apart from this, 100 trees will be planted in all the countries across the world under the initiative of the Foreign Ministry. A seminar on Bangabandhu and Bangladesh will be organized with prominent people in the United States.
Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2021 will be dedicated to Bangabandhu. Dhaka International Book Fair will be held in November on the occasion of his anniversary. There will be Jatra and folk drama throughout the country. Cultural events, exhibitions, fairs will be organized at Bangladesh Embassy in different countries. UNESCO will celebrate the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu.
Different sports federations of the country are set to arrange a number of national and international tournaments to celebrate ‘Mujib Borsho’ marking the birth century of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In connection with the celebration of ‘Mujib Borsho’ the government of Bangladesh has taken some steps such as—
Light up every house by Mujib Borsho: The government will light up every house across the country within the Mujib Borsho by bringing all people under the electricity coverage.
Tourists will get 20% discount for Mujib Borsho: In connection with the celebration (Mujib Borsho) of 2020, tourists coming to Cox’s Bazar will get 20% discount. Hotel-motel businessmen have decided to do so on the occasion.
68,000 poors to get homes in Mujib Borsho: The government will build a paved home for a poor family in 68,038 villages each during ‘Mujib Borsho’ marking the 100th birth anniversary.
E-passports ‘Mujib Borsho’ gift for the nation: Launching the much-awaited electronic passport service, along with the automated border control management program, was a gift for the nation in the ‘Mujib Borsho’.
The mega celebration marking the birth century of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is engaging the international community. The government has taken various efforts to successfully hold a series of programs marking the ‘Mujib Borsho’.
