তুমি পথ,আমি পথিক। তুমি সময়,আমি ঘড়ি। অর্থাৎ আমি তোমার উপর নির্ভরশীল। subject verb agreementএর বেলায় তাই বলতে পারি, subject singular না plural তার উপর verb সম্পূর্ণ নির্ভরশীল। আসুন,আজ আমরা এই সম্পর্কে একটু জানি।

প্রকৃত subject সব সময় prepositional phrase/ adjective phrase/ adjective clause/and not এর পূর্বে বসে। এবং subject singular হলে verb singular এবং subject plural হলে verb plural হবে।
◼Ex:
Prepositional phrase: The production of different types of materials is/ are essential.
Here, the production=subject
Of different types of materials= prepositional phrase
So, the production singular বলে verb হবে is ।
:. The production of different types of materials is essential.

Adjective clause: The boy who is playing football with his classmate is/ are my brother.
Here, the boy= subject
Who is playing football with his classmate=adj. clause
So,the boy singular বলে verb is হবে।
:. The boy who is playing football with his classmate is my brother.

Adjective phrase: The boy playing football with his classmate is my brother.

**** সহজে বুঝি,Phrase ও clauseএর মূল পার্থক্য হলো clause এ verb থাকে। তবে phraseএ verb নেই।

And not: Rahan and not his sons has helped me.
